Amazon Announces Fire TV Gaming Edition

An updated version of Amazon Fire TV will be available in October.
According to the announcement, the Amazon Fire TV Gaming Edition will support “high-performance” gaming and will include the new Fire TV multimedia player, a 32GB microSD card and a revised controller, as well as two games: Shovel Knight and DuckTales Remastered.

The bundle will cost a total of $139 (£89.05) at launch.
Although the new bundle includes the new wireless controller, it can be purchased separately for $49. The new controller sports a headphone jack and a built-in microphone, and requires AA batteries for “up to 90 hours of battery life”.

The new Fire TV will have access to the Amazon Marketplace, which the company claims has “over 800 games, more than any other streaming media player.”

The Device has 2GB built-in storage and can support up to 1080p and 4K Ultra HD. It can also do all the functions of the normal Fire TV such as stream video from Amazon Prime, Netflix and other services.

The new Amazon Fire TV Gaming Edition is available for pre-order in either the bundle or standalone package, with shipping scheduled to start October 5th.
