Blizzard has banned over one thousand Overwatch players for cheating

Cheaters never prosper, this is something we were all told growing up and it is nice when this turns out to be true. A game is not fun when somebody is cheating, you ruin any sense of enjoyment for everyone playing, so with Overwatch those who play fair can be happy that their game will no longer be uneven.

Blizzard promised that they would be giving harsh punishments for those that who cheated in Overwatch and they are going through with this promise.

Blizzard has recently delivered their first wave of bans, and there are a lot of players who have been caught cheating. In fact, 1,572 players have been banned from Overwatch from around the world, better still these players have been named and shamed thanks to Blizzards Chinese offices who have provided the usernames for these players. Blizzard shared the following statement about banning people:

“We’ve recently taken action against Overwatch accounts worldwide which were found to be using cheat programs. We’re committed to providing an equal and fair playing field for everyone in Overwatch, and will continue to take action against those found in violation of our Terms of Use. Cheating of any form will not be tolerated.”

Prior to launch Blizzard did say they were going to take cheating seriously and permentate bans would be issued for those caught. This is a game that is only fun and satisfying so long as the game is even and Blizzard knows this so they are acting rationally, however this does mean that some people did waste their money on this game. The developer encourages players to contact them at hacks@blizzard.com, or use right-click report functionality if they believe another player is cheating by utilizing hacks, bots, or unauthorized third-party software.

Just remember cheaters never prosper, and Blizzard will catch you.
