Capcom preparing a “full-scale offensive” with the Resident Evil franchise this financial year

Capcom has recently revealed their financial earnings and with it revealed some big information about their approach to the Resident Evil franchise during this financial year.

According to the report the company is preparing for a “full-scale offensive” with the Resident Evil franchise and it all starts with Umbrella Corps. Seeing as Umbrella Corps arrives in June (pending further delay) it can be suggested that the statement used relates to another project or two arriving in the franchise. The statement says:

“In the fiscal year ending March 31, 2017, the Company is scheduled to release […] Resident Evil Umbrella Corps (for PlayStation 4 and PC) of the Resident Evil series, which marked its 20th anniversary in March 2016, as warm up to the full-scale offensive planned for the second half of the year.”

Last year Capcom did reveal that a remake of Resident Evil 2 was in the works, plus they teased an announcement for Resident Evil 7 as well. Could it be that we will be getting the Resident Evil 2 remake as well Resident Evil 7 before the end of the financial year? Or, could Capcom have other secret surprises in store for the franchise going forward, perhaps more experimentive games like Umbrella Corps are in the pipeline. I guess we will have to see what happens when Capcom shares the full details with the public.
