CD Projekt Says Cyberpunk 2077 Is On Pace For Release This Fall

Coronavirus has been both a blessing and a curse for the gaming industry. Between developers and studios having to adjust workloads and release schedules, while also enjoying an uptick in sales, it’s been an interesting few weeks. But amidst all the uncertainty,  CD Projekt has announced that, despite the challenges COVID-19 presents, Cyberpunk 2077 is still set for release on September 17.

CD Projekt recently released a financial statement where they addressed the issues that it’s facing and the adjustments that have been made. The financial statement makes it clear that CD Projekt is prepared to work through these tough times and that part of the reason they’re up to the challenge is the increase in sales of The Witcher 3 after The Witcher Netflix series debuted in December 2019.

Following the release of the financial statement, Adam Kicińsk, an executive at CD Projekt, gave a statement: “Our plans haven’t changed – we’re steaming towards the September release of Cyberpunk. There is no shortage of motivation and we also possess all the tools needed to facilitate remote work.”

“We’ve been operating in this mode for over three weeks and to-date results confirm that we can carry on with all our operations without major disruptions”, continued Adam Kicińsk.

Adam Badowski, the CD Projekt Red studio head, also released a statement via Twitter stating, “Very happy to share some progress on this — Cyberpunk 2077 has already been rated by the vast majority of rating boards around the world.” Badowski also retweeted a previous tweet about the game’s development, revealing that the team is now just focused on polishing technical aspects of Cyberpunk 2077.

It is good to see that some developers and studios are still going strong, since other projects such as The Last of Us Part 2 and Iron Man VR have been delayed indefinitely. Cyberpunk 2077 itself had already been delayed earlier this year, originally set for an April release. An added bonus is that fans can entertain themselves with lore about gangs within the game and remain on the lookout for more updates on the Cyberpunk 2077 twitter account.
