Crunchyroll on PS3 and Vita

If you’re an anime fan, then chances are you have heard of Crunchyroll.  As part of Anime Expo, the Anime and Asian TV community site Crunchyroll announced that their streaming video app would be coming to Sony’s gaming platforms this year. Crunchyroll to launch apps for streaming Anime and Asian Entertainment on PS3/PS Vita. Crunchyroll, Inc., is the leading anime and Asian drama dreaming service to set to launch its own branded application for the PlayStation 3

“The Crunchyroll application for PS3 system will initially be available in Engilsh for U.S. and Canadian audiences.  Anime fans will be able to enjoy the latest and most popular Anime shows with subtitles within hours of Japan TV broadcast, including hits like Naruto Shippuden, Prince of Tennis, and Hunter X Hunter.  Crunchyroll will also offer a special 30-day free trial for PS3 user who download the application from PlayStation®Network.”

PS3 and Vita owners who download the app will get a 30-day free trial to Crunchyroll’s Premium services—from there, it’s not yet known if they will have options for free viewing up and running at launch, or if the PS3 and Vita apps will be Premium-only to start. (Premium memberships are $6.95/month for anime, $6.95/month for Asian drama, or $11.95/month for a both.)
