Previously, GameLuster reported that an Elden Ring update would come at E3 and it seems now that fans have some answers. FromSoftware and Bandai Namco fans finally got a glimpse of Elden Ring‘s gameplay in the official gameplay trailer showcased at the Summer Game Fest Kickoff Live event.
The trailer showed fans stunning scenery, impressive graphics, fearsome enemies, and valiant magic and sword fighting. Plus you can travel on horseback! The anticipated collaboration between FromSoftware and George R. R. Martin, the mind behind A Song Of Ice And Fire, hadn’t had any official footage released since the E3 announcement trailer back in 2019.
FromSoftware is known for posing a welcome challenge in gameplay, as seen in Dark Souls, Bloodborne and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and it looks like Elden Ring is following suit. With George R. R. Martin onboard, you can guarantee there will be a rich storyline to accompany the beautiful game design within the RPG.
Since the gameplay trailer was released, the Elden Ring website has also been updated to provide fans with some more clarification and detail on what to expect. Firstly, the player will be the ‘Tarnished’ and will be searching for the fragments of the Elden Ring in Queen Marika’s lands to become the Elden Lord. As expected, this will be no easy task as you will have to fight Marika’s demigod offspring in order to recover the fragments.
The website also notes that you will ‘unravel the mysteries of the Elden Ring’s power. Encounter adversaries with profound backgrounds, characters with their own unique motivations for helping or hindering your progress’, so it looks like fans will be in for an immersive ride.
Notably the trailer revealed what fans have been waiting nearly 2 years for, the release date! The trailer confirmed we can expect Elden Ring on the 21 January 2022. It also revealed that the game will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
