Funcom CEO Steps Down

Just as Funcom released its massive multiplayer online role-playing video game Secret World, CEO Tronde Arne Aas retired his job. Apparently he didn’t feel very free.

“The company’s financial position is strong and the foundation of the company’s long-term product and technology strategy is in place,” Aas said. “It feels like a very natural point in time for me to make the transition to a new and freer role in the company, but I will remain committed to the Company both as a major shareholder and as an employee.”
 

Aas will be sticking around with the company though to take on the role of strategic advisor to the board of directors and the cheif strategy officer. Sounds like a whole lot of strategy for one man. This means he will be hands on with the developer’s newly announced Lego MMO project. Aas was replaced with COO Ole Schreiner.
