Horizon New 4x Turn Based galactic strategy game now available on Steam

Horizon is a game all about galactic exploration and conquest. It’s a turn based strategy game where you explore the vast frontiers of space, discovering strange abandoned planets and ancient alien artifacts. Developed by Canadian studio, L30 Interactive and now available on Steam Horizon offers a unique

It demonstrates this uniqueness through its storyline based on mankind’s own expansion beyond the solar system and its confrontation with two powerful and ancient races. The developers are also in touch with the fans, adding playable alien factions due to the demand for that feature. There’s seven alien races on offer and you can even customise your own.

“We could not be happier with the way Horizon has turned out, and we are excited to start 2014 with another compelling 4X space strategy game for our loyal but demanding fans,” said Iceberg Interactive CEO Erik Schreuder. “The L3O Interactive team has been diligent about listening to the Horizon community and implementing changes and upgrades to the game that they have requested, and we look forward to seeing what players think about the finished product.”

You will be able to develop space colonies and watch them grow into galactic centres of trade, industry and science – as well as military bases, outposts and shipyards on their way to conquer new horizons. The game is shaping up to be a modern re-imagining of the rather sublime but ancient Alpha Centauri by Sid Meier another turn based game. It also has vague twinges of what Spore should have been thrown in. But on a far broader scope than most in many respects.

The combat is deep but accessible with indepth tactical combat that involves managing ship movement, weapons, attacking from planetary and orbital defenses and boarding enemy ships.

The map spans multiple galaxies with hundreds of star systems and more than 1,000 planets

There’s a huge tech tree with 80 tech types and 10 upgrades within is, weapons, ships and combat systems can all be customised

Detailed economic and colony management will allow different types of space communities based on the players choices.

The game has freedom, customisation, huge scope and could be a special title that makes you say ‘just one more turn’ as the wee hours tick on.
