Mojang open to Minecraft appearing on Nintendo platforms

Minecraft is without a doubt one of the most popular games of the recent era, and while Nintendo fans have been treated to many clones, such as Stone Shire and Cube Life: Island Survival, Wii U and 3DS owners are still yet to see the release of Minecraft on their consoles, for some unknown reason considering the game has appeared on pretty much everything else.

For many Nintendo players we considered the absence under two particular factors, firstly Microsoft won’t allow it now, with Playstation versions only released because they were near the end of development. Secondly, Mojang just didn’t want to, interestingly though on this point it is not actually the case, Mojang would not object to putting their game on the Wii U or 3DS.

Speaking with MCV Mojang COO Vu Bui had this to say:

“If I had my way, we’d be on everything. We want to continue to be available to all players, and that means being on new platforms because everyone uses something different.”

More specifically MCV asked if a Nintendo version of Minecraft would be possible , to which Bui responded saying:

“I’ve never heard a reason why we haven’t ended up on Wii U or 3DS. It just hasn’t happened yet.”

So there is still hope for a Wii U or 3DS version of the game, so lets hold out hope that the game eventually sees release.
