Telltale Games has revealed additional details regarding the release of The Walking Dead’s third season. The new entry will be subtitled A New Frontier, and is set to premiere in November of this year. If previous releases are any indication, the first episode will debut in November, followed by four more episodes that will release in the following months.
The game will take place four years after the events of Season 1, and will allow players to take on the role of a teenage Clementine. Screenshots appear to show that she’s still caring for AJ, a child who was orphaned during the events of Season Two. Additionally, players will take on the role of a man named Javier, as he works to keep his family afloat during the difficult times. Clementine’s story will intersect with Javier’s, though it is unclear if they will spend the majority of the adventure side by side.
It will be interesting to see how A New Frontier reconciles with the conclusion of The Walking Dead: Season Two. In that entry, players could make a number of critical choices at the end of the game, which resulted in significantly different endings in different locations. It’s a safe bet that A New Frontier will make use of a big time gap so that every player starts in the same place with the same basic story. Indeed, it will be a new frontier.
The Walking Dead: A New Frontier will be released for PC, consoles and mobile devices.
