Nintendo has announced a mini Nintendo Entertainment System

Nintendo may have the NX coming up, but this is not the only console that the company is going to be bringing us. Nintendo has revealed a new Nintendo Entertainment System that will come pre-installed with thirty different games. The new system has no room for proper classic cartridges and is simply built with each game digitally included, and this will cost only $60 for the base system and a controller designed like the original.

The system will include many big games from the Nintendo Entertainment System era, including first party hits like the original Zelda and Super Mario Brothers, and third party titles like the original Final Fantasy and Double Dragon 2. The full list of games for the system includes:

  • Balloon Fight
  • Bubble Bobble
  • Castlevania
  • Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest
  • Donkey Kong
  • Donkey Kong Jr.
  • Double Dragon II
  • Dr. Mario
  • Excitebike
  • Final Fantasy
  • Galaga
  • Ghosts ‘n’ Goblins
  • Gradius
  • Ice Climber
  • Kid Icarus
  • Kirby’s Adventure
  • Mario Bros.
  • Mega Man 2
  • Metroid
  • Ninja Gaiden
  • Pac-man
  • Punch-Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream
  • StarTropics
  • SUPER C
  • Super Mario Bros.
  • Super Mario Bros. 2
  • Super Mario Bros. 3
  • Tecmo Bowl
  • The Legend of Zelda
  • Zelda II: The Adventure of Link

As for the system itself, it will come with an HDMI cable and a USB cable which will power the system. You can also use two controllers with the console, the first as mentioned previously will come with the console, and additional ones can be purchased for $10 each.

It has also been revealed that the Nintendo Entertainment System controllers are compatible with Wii Remotes and you will be able to use it with Virtual Console Nintendo Entertainment System games on the Wii U.

This is a great taste of classic nostalgia, and I look forward to checking out some of the games here that I never played (which is a lot of them).
