Resident Evil 2 remake officially happening

Capcom is in the midst of remake after remake at the moment with a key part of their strategy involving their popular Resident Evil franchise, previously the company has already done work to bring out the original game, and they have even announced Resident Evil Zero, but the one game that the people have been crying out for is Resident Evil 2. Among the fanbase Resident Evil 2 is well considered the best game in the franchise and have been wanting to see the second game come back into their embrace, good news for these people the game has been officially announced to be being remade.

Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, the producer of Resident Evil HD Remake will lead up work on this remake, which is expected to be a full remake rather then a simple remaster. Beyond this the game is being kept pretty tight lipped and is remaining quite cryptic. As of yet no release details such as platforms have been announced but if the previous games are anything to go by we should be seeing a release on the Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC.

Hirabayashi had this to say while speaking to Video Gamer:

“We’re pleased to confirm that Resident Evil 2 has been approved for development. As the title is only just starting its development cycle we unfortunately don’t have any additional information or assets to share at this time. However, for now we want our fans to know that we appreciate all the feedback and support we’ve received on this title. We’re looking forward to delivering this highly anticipated Resident Evil experience that fans have been waiting for.”

Its been seventeen years since the game originally graced fans of the franchise with its presence and finally it is on its way back. Here is the video sent out by the games producer:
