Scribblenauts Showdown Announced for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch

Word of a new Scribblenauts game has been making the rounds over the past few weeks, following ratings and listings, but now the latest installment in the beloved franchise has been revealed.

The new game, Scribblenauts Showdown, is being developed by Shiver Entertainment as opposed to usual developer 5th Cell, and will focus on a different style of game. Rather then puzzle solving, this new installment will focus on the social element, with up to four players being able to take part in over 25 mini-games. But that isn’t all.

Showdown mode tasks its players with finding the best word the fastest, while the game’s versus mode will have two players going head to head in a battle experience. Sandbox mode will give players 35,000 items with which to solve problems, whether alone or with the assistance of a friend.

Scribblenauts Showdown will be headed to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, set to arrive on March 6. You can check out the trailer for it below:

Those hoping for a more traditional Scribblenauts adventure may be left disappointed with the present multiplayer focus, but much of the gameplay still features clever use of words, which should appeal to longtime fans.
