Sony is shutting down LittleBigPlanet’s online services

Sony has revealed that they will be shutting down the online services for Media Molecule’s creative series LittleBigPlanet. This shutdown will include LittleBigPlanet, LittleBigPlanet 2, LittleBigPlanet 3, LittleBigPlanet Portable, LittleBigPlanet PS Vita and LittleBigPlanet Karting. As of July 31st Japanese players will be unable to play or view other peoples stage creations, they will not be able to upload their own stages, play the story mode online, or even talk to other people in the game.

Currently I am uncertain as to whether all of this only affects Japan, but we can’t help but think is this the end of LittleBigPlanet, the newest game LittleBigPlanet 3 has only been around for two years and the plug has already been pulled.

One thing we know will affect the rest of the world is that LittleBigPlanet Karting’s online services will be shutting down on August 31. Meanwhile LittleBigPlanet will be shutting down on July 31st. This is a dark day for fans of the franchise and makes you wonder what is going on, hopefully Sony might shed some more light on the situation soon.
