Whoop! First June post! Anyway. Last night we were let in on a few details about the latest franchise of Star Wars video games. Star Wars 1313 all revolves around some bounty hunter that takes care of business in the seedy underbelly of the city-world of Coruscant called Level 13. Players will also have to “uncover the truth surrounding a criminal conspiracy” in this 3rd-person action adventure game.
Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem that any Force action will come with this game:
Star Wars 1313 emphasizes epic set pieces and fast-paced combat with a mortal, well-equipped hero who cannot rely on supernatural powers to survive his dangerous environment.”
The first thing that came to mind is Star Wars Bounty Hunter for the PlayStation 2. I was skeptical of it at first because what is Star Wars without the force right? Well it turned out to have some pretty fun game play with plenty of cool weapons to kill people with including Jango’s flamethrower which sent enemies screaming and cindering in pain. The world was pretty interactive and their were plenty of good side bounties along with the main storyline itself. It might be that 1313 will have the same feel, but with better weapons and action. I’d like to know a bit about the new character too.
Of particular note about this game is that it is the first one by LucasArts that will be rated Mature. It also seems Lucasfilm is taking this project seriously. It’s brought on board some serious talent from the Lucasfilm enterprise including: Light & Magic, Lucasfilm Animation Ltd, Skywalker Sound, and Lucasfilm Animation.
The official introduction for 1313 will be at the 2012 E3 in Los Angeles. Here’s the video game’s official website: starwars1313.com, although all it really has after you submit your date of birth is a link to its facebook page.
Oh and Geoff Keighley of GT.TV has some pretty interesting, but short, footage from a sneak peak of the game’s production.
