The Last of Us Remastered started development shortly after finishing the PS3 Version

Last week I reported on the new features that would be coming to The Last of Us when it arrives on the Playstation 4, which was also officially announced last week. This is still where I find this news funny, if you go back and look at news stories in the last couple of months you will find many from developer Naughty Dog stating that they have no plans to bring The Last of Us to the Playstation 4, fast forward to today and it has been officially confirmed. The reason I am telling you this is because apparently The Last of Us for the Playstation 4 has been in the making since last June, so, just before the game was released last year. Many people are actually thinking that The Last of Us was originally planned as Playstion 4 game but they decided to release earlier so it became a Playstation 3 game. Others though are saying this is a cheeky move to just get more money out of consumers. Whatever the case is it is coming and that isn’t really a bad thing.

Here is the official statement from Naughty Dog Co-President Even Wells about when the game started development for the Playstation 4 release:

We had a lot of people on the forums saying ‘can I play this on PlayStation 4?’ We had actually been anticipating that, and started working on it pretty much as soon as we finished the PlayStation 3 [version]. We weren’t sure if it was going to go anywhere, but when we saw the fans clamouring for it we doubled-down, and put more effort behind it.The graphic fidelity has been turned up to eleven. We’ve got 1080p, we’re pushing the draw distances further, we’re creating higher resolution character models, better lighting, better shadows.

I hope you are all excited for The Last of Us Remastered, which is set to release sometime later this year with improved graphics and commentary.
