Turok: Dinosaur Hunter and Turok: Seeds of Evil getting a digital re-release

Ah Turok my old aquaintance it has been a long time, I remember playing one of these games back on the Nintendo 64, although I had no idea what was going on I had fun regardless. One of my biggest disapointments of recent years has been the absence of new Turok games and the fact the classic ones had essentially vanished into nothing but a memory, though this is all about to change.

Night Dive Studios, a company that specializes in restoring old PC games (previously having worked on System Shock 2), has announced that they are restoring and publishing modernized versions of Turok: Dinosaur Hunter and Turok 2: Seeds of Evil.

Both of these games will be seeing several improvements, though one of the biggest ones will be graphical upgrades to put them up to standards of the modern era, and do the games justice putting them back to the original standard the industry held them in.

CEO and Founder of Night Dive Studios had this to say:

“When Turok: Dinosaur Hunter was first released it was nothing short of revolutionary. To that point, no game had ever offered the combination of graphics and an open world environment that Turok featured. We are very excited to have the opportunity to bring this great franchise back to life and to be able to share these great titles with today’s gaming audience.”

From what I can tell the games core focus is a revival on PC, though we could still expect a digital re-release on dedicated gaming consoles in the future, we will have to wait and see for more information.
