Uncharted 4 was delayed so that Naughty Dog could get the ending right

Uncharted fans were disappointed back in March when Naughty Dog announced that Uncharted 4 would be getting delayed to 2016, at the time the reason for the delay was not really given but finally Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann has provided us with a reason for the games delay.

Druckmann has explained that the delay occurred because the team had an extremely ambitious ending for the game in mind but would need more time in order to see their vision come out. Their decision was about the fans and ensuring fans got the best possible ending for the game.

“Even when I’m describing the ending, it’s a pretty… Well, I guess this is a little bit of a spoil… Nah, I’m not going to say it!” he teased. “But there is something that happens that requires quite a bit of work for what we want it to do, and again we would have had to reduce that scope and reduce that ambition to meet that [original] deadline.”

According to Druckmann, while it “was a very hard decision” to postpone the game’s release, the desire to deliver an experience that would meet fans’ high expectations took precedence over getting it out before year’s end.

“We were weighing those choices between fans and their expectations,” Druckmann said. “It was going to disappoint them to push this thing back, but this is the last chapter for Nathan Drake, so let’s give ourselves as much time as possible and go all-out for this series.”

Delay’s can be disappointing but in this case it was for the best reason, hopefully the ending will arrive as well they envision. Uncharted 4 will arrive on March 18th.
