Baldur’s Gate 3 Has Sold Around 15 Million Copies Already

By now, pretty much every gamer on the planet has probably at least heard of Baldur’s Gate 3, the critically acclaimed and commercial juggernaut RPG from Larian Studios. In a new GameSpot interview, Larian CEO Swen Vincke said that the game has sold “almost double” the numbers of their last title, which was 2017’s Divinity: Original Sin 2. That sounds like a lot, and diving into the numbers, it certainly is.

The last time sales were discussed for Divinity: Original Sin 2 put the game at around 7.5 million units. As the game has certainly sold more in the last five years, and Vincke said Baldur’s Gate 3 is at almost double that number, it’s a very safe bet to say that the 15 million mark has officially been crossed. This is a massive milestone for the game, which released just seven months ago at time of writing.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is quite the sales monster, crossing approximately 15 million in less than a year.

The last time we heard some sales figures from Baldur’s Gate 3 was just last month, after director of publishing Michael Douse shared on X (formerly Twitter) that the game went from 2 million to 10 million players in a rapid amount of time. We knew then that over 10 million players was guaranteed, but Vincke’s latest comments show that Baldur’s Gate 3 sales are not to be underestimated.

Despite the roaring success of the sales, Larian Studios recently confirmed there will be no Baldur’s Gate 4. More smaller updates will come to the game, but there will also be no large-scale DLC or expansions for Baldur’s Gate 3 either, as the franchise is left in the hands of Wizards of the Coast.

Are you one of the approximately 15 million Baldur’s Gate 3 players? What do you want to see next from Larian Studios? Let us know in the comments below, and stay tuned to GameLuster for more breaking gaming news.
