Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare II Launches October 28, 2022

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare II will launch on October 28, 2022, confirmed in an official artwork trailer teasing the operators of Task Force 141. According to the synopsis, the group will make “its massive return with a global squad of iconic veterans,” including Captain John Price, Simon “Ghost” Riley, John “Soap” MacTavish, and Kyle ‘Gaz’ Garrick. The trailer further introduces newcomer Colonel Alejandro Vargas with the Mexican Special Forces.

The trailer, captured from drone footage, pans across the Port of Long Beach, sweeping and ducking around shipping containers painted with the faces of the operators. At different moments, the trailer offers snippets of operator dialogue.

If you pause carefully at the 45-second mark, you can see a date spray-painted onto a container reading J.8.22. This likely confirms Modern Warfare II’s full reveal date for June 8, meaning we can probably expect a trailer and more information next month for the sequel.

Barry Sloane (Price) posted artwork stills of the operators to his Instagram, featuring Elliot Knight (Garrick), Neil Ellice (Soap), Samuel Roukin (Ghost), and Alain Mesa (Vargas). Ellice said he was “honored to portray a special forces operator” while Knight described the role as “a dream for me to be a part of this moment in such a real and important way, and I hope it stays that way.”

While Mesa described the “honour” to be part of the franchise, Roukin added that he was “proud to be part of this family, and just wait until you play this game. It’s special.”

The sequel, developed by Infinity Ward, will become the last annually-released premium game until 2024, which marks the first time in over 15 years that there will not be an annual release in the long-running Call of Duty franchise. Actor Barry Sloane, who provided motion capture and his voice for Captain Price in Modern Warfare, revealed he will be returning for the sequel after confirming a Task Force 141 logo in a recent posting to social media.
