Nintendo Adds NES-themed Icons To Nintendo Switch Online

It’s a new month with some new icons. Nintendo has revealed the next four waves of icons coming to Nintendo Switch Online, and they’re retro-themed. Players will be able to collect these icons from Super Mario Bros., Balloon Fight and The Legend of Zelda, as well as some themed around the NES itself. The four waves will be arriving and leaving weekly, starting on a Monday and ending on the following Monday.

These classic icons are joined by the regular monthly update of Animal Crossing characters, this month features the residents with September birthdays. This includes the fan-favorite smug squirrel Marshal, who we’re sure will be popular.

NSO Animal Crossing Icons
The Animal Crossing villagers with September birthdays also join the service.

The icons will cost Platinum Points, which are earned by completing a variety of missions using the Nintendo Switch Online service, such as playing online games and backing up save data. You can also earn points on the official My Nintendo site, which can be found here.

Will you be redeeming your points for any of these icons? Do you enjoy the Nintendo Switch Online service? They icons may not be much, but at least it’s something. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, and keep your eyes on GameLuster for more Nintendo news.
