Classic GTA Titles Get Ray Tracing Mod

It’s been established for some time now that the wait for Grand Theft Auto 6 will go on for some time. While the series hiatus continues, modders have been busy working their magic on adding ray tracing elements to some classic GTA games, namely, Grand Theft Auto IIIVice City, and San Andreas

The credit goes to GTARenderHook, who’ve applied new shadows and reflections to the three games, and rather effectively at that. The polished screenshots are seen in the post add some realism to the game and really can make all the difference.

For example, the nightclub lighting is more refined, while the shadows are more pronounced. As wonderful as these images look, this is about as close as we’re likely to get to a remaster of Rockstar’s early titles, before the release of the “expanded and enhanced” edition of Grand Theft Auto V in 2021.

If instead you’re waiting for info on a new GTA game, you might be in luck. Following the announcement of GTA Online’s newest online update, a series of coordinates seen in a promotional trailer led fans to a dirt road in Virginia on Google Maps. The trail resembles the shape of VI, the Latin numeral for a number six. Is this a clue to the long, long-awaited GTA 6 or merely a red herring that once again, leads us up the wrong path?

In other Rockstar news, it was announced that from December 1, Red Dead Online would be released as a standalone game, available for a discounted price on the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Rockstar Games Launcher, Epic Games Store, and Steam. It will be $4.99 (75% off) until February 15, 2021.

Red Dead Online will eat up to 123GB of storage space, with an option available to unlock the story mode of Red Dead Redemption 2 separately. There’s currently no confirmation on cost for the story mode of Red Dead Redemption 2.
