Cuphead Delicious Last Course DLC Delayed Until 2021

Studio MDHR, the developer of popular 2017 “run and gun” title Cuphead, has officially announced that the upcoming DLC, Delicious Last Course, has been delayed until 2021. This is the second major delay for Last Course – following its initial announcement in 2019, it was later delayed until 2020 before finally being pushed back to 2021.

Delicious Last Course will be the last piece of Cuphead DLC released, and has been advertised as the “final chapter” of protagonists Cuphead and Mugman’s story.

Today’s announcement was made via Twitter, accompanied by a statement from studio founders Chad and Jared Moldenhauer. They explained that the delay was the result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and that they “aren’t content for this final chapter to be anything other than [their] best work.” Meeting that standard, the Moldenhauers explained, has been difficult due to COVID-imposed limitations and difficulties.

Delicious Last Course will feature a new island to explore, which will include brand new enemies, as well as the game’s signature boss fights. According to a trailer released in 2019, bosses will include a snow monster and Glumstone, a mountain of a man with an enormously long beard.

The DLC will also introduce new weapons, new charms, and a new playable character, Ms. Chalice, who will have her own set of abilities distinct from those of Cuphead and Mugman. She previously appeared in the base game as “The Legendary Chalice,” who could be found inside various Mausoleums and would grant power-ups to the heroes should they discover her location. A new character, the jolly Chef Saltbaker, will also play a crucial role in the DLC, but little is known about him other than his brief appearance in the trailer.

While you’re waiting for the Delicious Last Course, the original Cuphead is available for Windows, macOS, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. An animated series which will premiere on Netflix is also in production.
