Dark Souls: Remastered Delayed on Nintendo Switch

Hear that sound in the distance? It should sound all too familiar. It is the delay bell tolling once more to signal another anticipated release is being set back. Dark Souls: Remastered was set to hit the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch on May 25, but it seems like one of those platforms will actually have to wait a little longer. The Switch release is seeing an unfortunate delay to an undisclosed date, with the Solaire amiibo releasing alongside it in the future.

The least we know is that Dark Souls: Remastered will arrive this summer with Bandai Namco releasing a statement that suggests that the developers need more time to ensure the game works properly with the Switch’s portable functionality.

“The new release timing gives the development team the time needed to make sure Nintendo Switch players can fully appreciate the true Dark Souls experience anytime and anywhere, thanks to the unique portable nature of the Nintendo Switch console,” Namco Bandai shared.

With this unexpected delay, it seems that you could be in for a decent wait if you were really determined to buy the Switch version. With a summer release window, it could release as early as June, but it seems more than likely that Bandai Namco might push the game to July or even August.

Details on the Network Test that was due to happen close to the Switch release have also been mentioned. It will still happen, however the Network Test will handle the event closer to the new release date as some might expect. They have said:

“We will test the server performance of the Switch version apart from the others, and at a time closer to the Switch release. We will announce the dates when they are available.”

One must now wonder when that ominous toll of the delay bell will strike next.
