Epic Games Store Free Title For Next Week Revealed

Epic Games Store, until April 9, are giving away Gone Home and Hob for free. They’ve done one better and revealed next week’s free title up for grabs: Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments. In order to receive the game, of which many deem underrated, all you’ll need is a free Epic Games Account.

Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments will be available starting April 9 at 8 a.m. PT / 11 a.m. ET.  Released in September 2014, it is one of multiple Sherlock Holmes titles produced by developer Frogwares.

Others titled produced by Frogwares include 2016’s The Devil’s Daughter, and 2012’s The Testament Of Sherlock Holmes. Throughout Crimes & Punishments, players will need to undertake six separate investigations, accompanied by John Watson during each case.

One of the key gameplay mechanics within Crimes & Punishments is the deduction board. Clues can be pulled together to draw conclusions on a case. Awarded a 7/10 by Eurogamer, their review of Crimes & Punishments hailed the game’s mechanics, calling it a largely entertaining and involving detective game.”

Gamespot also praised the 2014 release, as their review readsPerhaps the best comment that I can make on the half-dozen cases featured in Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments is that they feel like lost short stories from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle himself.”

In the meantime, as well as Gone Home and Hob, there’s also Drawful 2 and Totally Reliable Delivery Service. These two can be claimed until April 8. Gone Home is a first-person exploration game, centered on a young woman who returns to her family home and finds it deserted. It was released in 2013 by Fullbright. Hob, an action-adventure title, was released by Runic Games in 2017.
