EA has confirmed that after FIFA 23, expected to launch in late 2022, the football franchise will be known as EA Sports FC. In a press release, EVP and EA Sports GM Cam Weber confirmed that after almost three decades of “creating genre-defining interactive football experiences, we will soon begin an exciting new era.”
According to Weber, EA Sports FC has been described as “the future of football” with plans to “take global football experiences to new heights, on behalf of all football fans around the world.”
“Ultimate Team, Career Mode, Pro Clubs and VOLTA Football will all be there. Our unique licensing portfolio of more than 19,000+ players, 700+ teams, 100+ stadiums and 30 leagues that we’ve continued to invest in for decades will still be there, uniquely in EA SPORTS FC.” she adds.
The introduction of EA Sports FC will be “a symbol of change” as the studio work with “a large and increasing number of partners to expand to new authentic experiences that bring joy, inclusivity and immersion to a global community of fans.”
FIFA 23, the thirtieth instalment in the series and the final game under the FIFA banner promises to be their “most expansive game ever with our current naming rights partner, FIFA, for one more year.”
“We are committed to ensuring the next FIFA is our best ever, with more features, game modes, World Cup content, clubs, leagues, competitions, and players than any FIFA title before.”
Courtesy of Sky Sports, the president of FIFA, Gianni Infantino affirmed “the only authentic, real game that has the FIFA name will be the best one available for gamers and football fans.” He added that the FIFA title would “remain forever and remain the best.”
The first game in the long-running football franchise, FIFA International Soccer, was released in 1993 for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis console. FIFA 22 is available on Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC, Stadia, and Nintendo Switch.
