Final Fantasy Theatrhythm Makes Home Console Debut With 502 Songs

Today’s Nintendo Direct brought a surprise with the reveal of Theatrhythm Final Bar Line, the first home console game in Final Fantasy’s rhythm game series. The base game will have 385 songs from across the Final Fantasy series, with some absolute bangers like “One-Winged Angel”, “Blinded By Light” and “The Decisive Battle”. The songs are accompanied with beautiful modern visuals, as either Theatrhythm battle scenes or cutscenes from the song’s original game.

The musical goodness doesn’t end there though. Another 90 songs from across the Square Enix library will be sold as DLC, coming in three Season Passes after the release of the game. The other series confirmed for a Theatrhythm appearance are Nier, Octopath Traveller, Chrono Trigger, Xenogears, Live A Live and more.

Theatrhythm brings iconic Final Fantasy battles in musical form.

The Digital Deluxe edition of the game comes with 30 songs from the first Season Pass, as well as an extra 27 exclusive songs. The Premium Digital Deluxe edition however comes with the same exclusives and all 90 Season Pass tracks, giving you a grand total of 502 songs for $100. That’s a lot of JRPG music, and a lot of money.

As for new gameplay features, two people can play co-op locally in Pair Style, or up to four players can do battle over the internet in Online Multi Battle. The game will be available on both Nintendo Switch and PlayStation systems.
