If John Carpenter pays you a compliment, then it means you’ve done something right. In a post from the iconic horror filmmaker, he praised Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Valhalla as a “return to excellence in the franchise.”
Carpenter – best known for his directorial work on Halloween, The Fog, The Thing, and Escape From New York – further commended the game’s open world and gameplay that he described as “beautifully designed”, stating that Valhalla is overall an “incredible game”.
Carpenter’s acclaim for Valhalla has even prompted other Twitter users to purchase the game as a result. “That’s it you sold me to get it” one Twitter user declared. “I will believe you sir, I just have to wait until I get a PS5 to play.” another responded.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is set in ninth century AD, following Viking raider Eivor on their journey from a war-torn Norway to the fractured kingdoms of England. “Find your settlement and conquer this hostile land by any means to earn a place in Valhalla.” Ubisoft’s description for the game reads.
Last week, it was announced that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s launch was the most successful across the entire franchise, selling more copies within the first week than any other game before, dominating PC sales too.
Ubisoft’s Julien Laferrière said that they were “truly delighted by the enthusiastic response from players and want to thank the fans for their incredible support.”
In other Ubisoft news, a recent Microsoft listing suggested that the delayed Far Cry 6 may arrive in May 2021. Since the story was reported, the listing has been taken down. Initially slated for February 18, 2021, the game was shuffled back to April 2021.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is available now on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Stadia, and PC.
