Finally, More Pokémon DLC Information Has Been Revealed Ahead of Its Release This Month

Following an announcement yesterday that more Pokémon Sword and Shield Expansion Pass information would be released today, a new trailer for both expansions has been released that showcases many of the new Pokémon and features coming with the update.

The Isle of Armor expansion initially said to be released sometime in June 2020, has been given a release date: June 17th, 2020. In the trailer, we are given the first glimpse of Galarian Slowbro. This Pokémon is a Poison/Psychic-type and has the new Ability Quick Draw. No other information on its Ability has currently been shared. Galarian Slowbro can also learn an exclusive move, Shell Side Arm, which will poison the opponent’s Pokémon and deals either physical or special damage, whichever would be higher. Galarian Slowpoke will evolve into Galarian Slowbro if given a particular item from the Island of Armor.

The Shellder bite caused a reaction to make Galarian Slowbro Poison type. This Pokémon is dangerous because the bite is itchy, which makes it swing its clubbed arm around wildly.

The Isle of Armor also introduces new Gigantamax forms for the previous Pokémon: Rillaboom, Cinderace, Intelleon, Venusaur, Blastoise, and the new Legendary Pokémon Urushifu. Venusaur and Blastoise got their G-Max moves revealed, G-Max Vine Lash and G-Max Cannonade, respectively. They both have the same effect: they will deal additional damage for four turns to any Pokémon, not Grass (Venusaur) or Water (Blastoise) type. Urushifu’s G-Max moves were also revealed, and differ depending on the form it takes. Gigantamax Urushifu Single Strike has G-Max One Blow, and Gigantamax Urushifu Rapid Strike has G-Max Rapid Blow. Once again, both moves have the same effect: they hit regardless of if the opponent defends itself. Urushifu also has a new ability, Unseen Fist, which lets it damage Pokémon, who use Protect.

Along with these new Gigantamax forms, the DLC also introduces an item called Max Soup that, when fed to a Pokémon that has a Gigantamax form that currently cannot Gigantamax, will let it access that form. It is now not known if this effect is permanent or how you obtain Max Soup.

The Isle of Armor will also introduce new moves for existing Pokémon via a Move Tutor. The Tutor will teach Pokémon new moves in exchange for Armorite; an item received from winning Max Raid Battles on the Isle of Armor. Several new moves were introduced in the trailer: Burning Jealousy, a Fire-type move that damages both opponents and will burn any Pokémon that raised its stats that turn and Grassy Glide, a Grass-type move that gets priority in Grassy Terrain.

The Crown Tundra Expansion announcement trailer initially revealed Galarian Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres, as well as two new Regi Pokémon. This new trailer reveals more information about them. Galarian Articuno is a Psychic/Flying-type with the Ability Competitive. It can learn an exclusive move, Freezing Glare, which may freeze the target. Galarian Zapdos is a Fighting/Flying-type and has the Defiant Ability. Its exclusive move is called Thunderous Kick, which deals damage and lowers the opponent’s Defense. Galarian Moltres is a Dark/Flying-type with the Berserk ability. It also learns an exclusive move, Firey Wrath, a damage-dealing move that may make the opponent flinch.

The two new Regis are Regieleki, an Electric-type and Regidrago, a Dragon-type. Both Pokémon have unique abilities and a new move. Regieleki has the Ability Transistor and can learn the exclusive move Thunder Cage, which deals damage and traps the opponent for five turns. Regidrago has the Ability Dragon’s Maw and learns Dragon Energy, a move exclusive to it that does more damage the more HP the user has left. There is still one new Pokémon form from The Crown Tundra not fully revealed: Galarian Slowking. Galarian Slowpoke evolves into Galarian Slowking when an item from the Crown Tundra is used on it.

The Crown Tundra is also slated to have two new features: Dynamax Adventure and Galarian Star Tournament. Dynamax Adventure lets up to 4 players explore Max Raid Dens together, and the Galarian Star Tournament will let you participate in Multi Battles featuring prominent Trainers in Galar, like the Gym Leaders. No other details on these features have been revealed yet.

The first part of the DLC expansions for Pokémon Sword and Shield, Isle of Armor, releases this month on the 17th, while the 2nd part, The Crown Tundra, is slated for release in the fall.
