NIS America announced today that a bundle pack of their classic PSP titles, Prinny: Can I Really Be the Hero? and Prinny 2: Dawn of the Operation Panties, Dood! are coming together on the Nintendo Switch as Prinny 1•2: Exploded and Reloaded. The port features remastered graphics as well as all the previously released DLC, which includes boss fights, weapons, and extra missions.
The original Prinny games are 2D platformers that were released in the late 2000s. The first game, Prinny: Can I Really Be the Hero? was all about the lovable Prinnys being forced to find the ultimate dessert for their master, Etna. Prinny 2: Dawn of the Operation Panties, Dood!, the sequel, has the minions attempting to recover their master’s panties from a Phantom Thief before sunrise or else they’ll be turned into panties themselves. Both of these games featured fantastic sprite work, comedic storytelling, fluid animations, and a pretty steep difficulty curve. You’ll only have 1,000 lives to beat the entire game, but will that be enough? I guess you’ll just have to find out for yourself when the collection launches later this year.
Exploded and Reloaded was announced with a short trailer on NISA’s YouTube channel that shows off an early build, giving us a chance to see some gameplay and just how much better this PSP classic is going to look on the big screen (or even in Portable mode, that IS the point of the Switch after all). The collection is already available for pre-order on the company site. NISA also announced a special collector’s edition called the ‘Just Desserts Edition’ that comes with a special box, soundtrack, artbook, Prinny block figurine, and poster.
Prinny 1•2: Exploded and Reloaded doesn’t have a release date just yet, but will be arriving on the Nintendo Switch physically and digitally this Autumn, dood!
