Set Up Camp in Pokémon Sword and Shield

In the latest Nintendo Direct, some new information about Pokémon Sword and Shield features and Pokémon was revealed.

Trainer customization returns in Pokémon Sword and Shield and has been expanded further. Now you can add jackets and gloves to your Trainer’s outfits. Players can also change their Trainer’s hair and makeup in addition to clothes customization.

A new feature for the game has also been announced, called Pokémon Camp. In this mode, you can play with and interact with your Pokémon. Players can set their camps up anywhere in Galar and are able to visit other player’s camps. While visiting, you can play with the other Trainer’s Pokémon as well.

An additional new feature in the Pokémon Camp mode is cooking. Trainers can make curry on rice for their Pokémon by mixing various ingredients and Berries. Different combinations of items produce different recipes of curry, with over 100 being available in the game.

Oh, to be a Pokémon and eat over 100 kinds of curry rice and no other food…

Of course, there are also some new Pokémon. The first is a Ghost-type Pokémon called Polteageist, which is a tiny purple spirit inhabiting a teapot.

It’s a little teapot, short and stout!

The second is a Water and Flying-type Pokémon called Cramorant. This Pokémon changes form when it uses Surf or Dive, where it catches a fish in its mouth. While it has its catch, this Pokémon can use its ability Gulp Missile to shoot its fish at the enemy when attacked.

I love how it always looks anxious about something.

The trailer also showed a new form of an already shown Galar Pokémon, Alcremie. This form of the dessert-themed Pokémon has clover-like cookies on its head instead of strawberries, and its body is made up of light green cream. This Pokémon will have 16 forms in total, presumably one for each type.

The game also introduces League Cards, customizable Trainer Cards shared not only with Trainers in the game but online with other players as well.
