Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Data Mine Hints at Possible DLC Fighter Code Names

We could have the code names for three upcoming fighters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Thanks to data miners, three potential code names for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC fighters might have been found. Twitter user @jam1garner shared the discovery, found by data miner @KuroganeHammer and others. The three code names are:

  • fighter_kind_jack
  • fighter_kind_brave
  • fighter_kind_packu

Twitter user @_Mizumi also shared the speeds of the three fighters:

  • fighter_kind_jack: 2.21
  • fighter_kind_brave: 1.74
  • fighter_kind_packu: 1.72

As a comparison, Sonic’s max speed is 3.85, while Incineroar has a max speed of 1.18.

“Packu” is likely to be the code name for the Piranha Plant, who will be released in February, as its Japanese name is “Packun Flower.” “Brave” could be a direct translation of the Japanese word “Yuusha,” which is the title of the Hero class in the Dragon Quest games. All we can do is speculate at this point, and wait for Nintendo to drop more information on upcoming DLC characters.

Other than the Piranha Plant, we do know who the first upcoming DLC fighter for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is Joker from Persona 5. Joker will come with his own stage, as well as a collection of music. Since Persona 5 was a PlayStation exclusive, this will be Joker’s first appearance on the Nintendo Switch. He can be purchased on his own, or as a part of the game’s $24.99 fighter pass, which includes five DLC characters. Joker can be expected to drop early this year, after the Piranha Plant.

When speaking on who we can expect to join Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s cast, Nintendo President Reggie Fils-Aime said, “These are characters that are new to the series… characters that you would not anticipate to be in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.”

The crossover fighting game is available now for the Nintendo Switch. You can check out our review of the game here. The review praises the game’s roster and music, but does note that the game is laggy and slow when playing online.
