Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Pyra & Mythra DLC Releases Today

The latest fighters added to crossover title Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Xenoblade Chronicles 2’s Pyra & Mythra, were officially added to the game today. Their release followed an announcement hosted by Smash creator Masahiro Sakurai showing off the pair’s gameplay style which involves switching between the two in battle and summoning Xenoblade Chronicles 2’s protagonist Rex to help out with their Final Smash attack.

Pyra & Mythra can either be purchased separately for $5.99 USD or as part of Fighter Pass 2, which is available to purchase for $29.99 USD. This second Fighter Pass has been confirmed to feature a total of six DLC fighters. Pyra & Mythra mark the fourth addition to the Pass, joining the previously released Min Min from ARMS, Steve & Alex from Minecraft, and iconic Final Fantasy VII villain Sephiroth.

The new fighters bring with them a brand new stage, Cloud Seas of Alrest, which allows players to do battle on the back of the enormous flying creature Azurda, AKA Gramps. Of course, adorable pink puffball Kirby also gets a new form when he “swallows” either Pyra or Mythra, sporting their signature hairstyle and jeweled tiara  and looking downright fabulous.

The Spirit Board also features a number of new Xenoblade-themed Spirits, many of whom were released alongside previous Xenoblade fighter Shulk. However, Pyra & Mythra will be adding some new entries to the board: Jin, Malos, Lora, Amaltheus, and a fifth character who has not yet been revealed.

Of course, the addition of new fighters also heralds new costumes for the Mii Fighters. This time, the focus was on classic Capcom titles. The Mii Swordfighter is getting Hunter Equipment and Rathalos Equipment inspired by the Monster Hunter franchise and its upcoming title Monster Hunter Rise, while all three classes of Mii Fighter can wear an adorable Felyne Hat. Additionally, Swordfighter will be getting an outfit based on Arthur from Ghosts n’ Goblins – looks like this particular set of content is definitely Swordfighter’s time to shine!
