Watch Dogs: Legion Online Modes Delayed Into “Early 2021”

Ubisoft will be delaying the online mode of Watch Dogs: Legion into early 2021. Announcing the delay, Ubisoft state that since Legion launched last month, players “continue to have technical issues preventing [them] from enjoying the game.”

For this reason, Ubisoft intends to focus on fixing the base game’s issues before launching the online mode. Originally, the online modes were set to go live from December 3.

Ubisoft adds it will give them time to “focus on fixing issues with single player, and it will give us more time to test the online experience to help ensure a smooth launch of the mode.”

Ubisoft also outlines what’s next, with Update 2.20 going live across PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia from this week. Next month, Ubisoft will be rolling out new “stability improvements and further graphics optimizations for PC”, intending to reach “consistent 60 FPS for higher end GPUs.”

The online update will include a free-roam open world that will bring together teams of up to four players to explore London, two-four player co-op missions, four-player co-op Tactical Ops challenges, and even a Spiderbot PvP mode.

In other Watch Dogs: Legion news, GameLuster recently reported a potential leak of the source code. A ransomware group named “Egregor” uploaded a 560GB package alleged to be the game’s source code across “various private trackers.” The leak came just days after the game’s release.

Elsewhere for fans of Ubisoft titles, the company earlier announced its new Ubisoft Connect service, a replacement to Ubisoft and uPlay, described as an “ecosystem of players services for all Ubisoft games across all platforms.”

The service supports cross-play and cross-progression and launched the same day as Watch Dogs Legion (October 29) Watch Dogs Legion is available across the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Series X/S, PC, and Stadia.
