Peach Takes The Stage In Princess Peach Showtime

Princess Peach has long been relegated to the role of simply Mario’s damsel in distress – but no longer! Nintendo’s iconic princess takes the stage herself in Princess Peach Showtime, a brand-new title previously hinted at but officially revealed during the September 14 Nintendo Direct livestream event.

Launching next spring for the Nintendo Switch, Princess Peach Showtime sees Peach and her loyal Toads travel to the Sparkle Theater to see a show – only for the show to be interrupted by the evil Grape and the Sour Bunch! Now, it’s up to Peach to save not just the Sparkle Theater, but all of the places the Sour Bunch has taken over.

She’ll do this by partnering up with Stella, the guardian of the Sparkle Theater, and using Stella’s ribbon as an attack to destroy obstacles and take on Sour Bunch enemies. But that’s not all! Using Stella’s powers, Peach can transform into a variety of forms based on the situation she finds herself in. In the Theater, she’s Swordfighter Peach, slashing her way across the stage with swordplay reminiscent of Japan’s all-female Takarazuka Revue theater troupe. At a museum she’s Detective Peach, investigating the surrounding area for clues with the help of her trusty magnifying glass. Kung Fu Peach can defend a martial arts school, while Patissier Peach rescues stolen treats from the Sour Bunch’s clutches!

Princess Peach Showtime was just one of many announcements in a Nintendo Direct that was tailor-made for fans of Mario and friends. In addition to the previously announced new title Super Mario Bros. Wonder and Super Mario RPG remake, Nintendo also showed off Mario vs. Donkey Kong, Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD, and a long-awaited remake of Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will also be getting its sixth and final wave of DLC, adding new characters including Peach in her crowned “Peachette” form.

Princess Peach’s brand-new solo adventure will be launching for the Nintendo Switch on March 22, 2024. Pre-orders are available today via the Nintendo Switch eShop.
