Famitsu: Detective Pikachu Holds Top Spot, Crosses 100k sales

Every Thursday we share the weekly Famitsu sales charts, which tracks physical boxed game sales and hardware sales in Japan. This week’s chart covers October 9 – 15, as Detective Pikachu spends its second week at the top of the Famitsu charts, after its #1 debut last week. Selling an additional 16,000 copies this week, the Pokémon spin-off game has now crossed 100,000 sales in two weeks since its release. It wasn’t an easy victory however, as the hugely popular Pikmin 4 sold over 14,000 copies this week, placing it at #2 and close behind the yellow mouse detective.

Keeping with the Pokémon theme, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet rose on the charts to fifth place, after being at ninth last week, thanks to over 6,000 more sales. There are also a couple of new debuts, with action RPG Rear Sekai releasing at #4 on the chart with over 6,000 sales, and the 3DS title River City: Rival Showdown receiving a Switch port that debuted at #8 with over 5,000 units sold.
