PlayStation Plus Essential Free Games for April 2026 Are Live

PlayStation Plus Essential subscribers have three new free games to claim as of April 7, and it’s a genuinely varied lineup: Lords of the Fallen, Tomb Raider I-III Remastered, and Sword Art Online Fractured Daydream are all live now and claimable through May 4.

The headline pick is arguably Lords of the Fallen, the 2023 souls-like that casts you as a Dark Crusader fighting to stop a demonic tyrant from consuming the world. It’s challenging, atmospheric, and mechanically demanding – fair warning, the level design can be punishing even by genre standards – but if you’ve been souls-curious, this is a solid no-cost entry point. Tomb Raider I-III Remastered is the nostalgia hit of the month, bundling all three classic Lara Croft adventures with their expansions, a toggle between original and upgraded visuals, and a new Challenge Mode with customisable modifiers and unlockable outfits. It’s also worth noting as a great warm-up ahead of the upcoming Tomb Raider remake. Rounding things out, Sword Art Online Fractured Daydream is the anime RPG of the bunch – a 2024 release featuring 21 characters from across the franchise and online co-op for up to 20 players, which is a lot of chaos in the best possible way.

Here’s the full April 2026 PS Plus Essential lineup:

  • Lords of the Fallen (PS5)
  • Tomb Raider I-III Remastered (PS5, PS4)
  • Sword Art Online Fractured Daydream (PS5)

Worth noting: two of the three titles are PS5 exclusive, continuing Sony’s clear push toward next-gen prioritisation in its Essential offerings. If you’re also keeping tabs on what the competition is doing, Xbox’s Game Pass has been making its own moves lately – worth a look if you’re weighing up subscriptions. And if you missed last month’s PS Plus haul, we’ve got you covered on recent catalog updates too.
