Titan Quest 2 Update 0.7.0 Adds Crafting and Spirit Mastery

Grimlore Games has released update 0.7.0 for Titan Quest 2, adding the game’s sixth Mastery, Spirit, alongside basic crafting, changes to passive skills, and a base movement-speed increase. The update is live now, according to PCGamesN.

Spirit Mastery expands class combinations

Characters in Titan Quest 2 combine two Masteries to form a class, so the addition of Spirit creates more potential pairings with the other five Masteries. Spirit builds on the basic summons introduced earlier this year and offers options centered on minions, shade manipulation, soul harvesting, and sacrificing Life for additional energy and power.

The new Mastery has 10 active skills and 26 passives, more than previous Masteries have offered so far. Grimlore has described the expanded passive selection as the first step in a broader change to the system, with the approach set to be gradually applied to the game’s other existing Masteries. The previous three-feat restriction on each passive has also been lifted, giving players more choices between effects and reducing situations in which feat selections are dictated by a particular build direction.

Spirit’s summon options include Eidolon Guards, temporary spirits of fallen heroes that can be enhanced through triggers when they are summoned or die. Players can also sacrifice Life to keep them active longer. Deathward Beam can be specialized from a damaging skill into a healing and buffing tool for summons and other co-op allies.

For a larger summon, Athanekros is a spellcaster with its own abilities that can be specialized as a backline damage dealer or buffer. Its health can be traded for more power, while Deathward Beam can help sustain both Athanekros and Eidolon Guards. Soul Vortex pulls nearby enemies toward its center and can be modified to weaken enemy resistances or buff allies within its area.

Crafting and balance changes

Update 0.7.0 also introduces basic crafting with four available actions. Players can replace an affix with a random option from an item’s eligible pool, reroll an affix’s values, add affixes to an item that has not reached its maximum, or give an epic item a one-time level boost to help it keep pace with character progression.

Grimlore’s stated aim is to make crafting understandable without allowing it to replace the search for loot. Initial improvements are intended to be inexpensive in the early and midgame, while repeated crafting on the same item becomes more expensive. In the late game, players have more opportunities to farm resources and pursue desired rolls, though a new item base may still be preferable after unsuccessful attempts.

Other changes in the patch include an increase to base movement speed after feedback that the game felt slower, particularly early on. Grimlore said it sought to preserve the sense of progression from investing in movement speed through gear and builds.

The patch notes also include balance changes across the other five Masteries. Cooldown-reduction affixes are more common on gear, non-boss elite drop rates have improved, and the base multiplier for critical and super-critical hits has been reduced slightly. The update also adjusts Doom and Lifesteal, and many abilities can now reserve Life instead of Spirit, offering another option for distributing resources or pursuing low-Life builds.
