The next PS5 update for NTE: Neverness to Everness is due on August 19th, adding a beach volleyball minigame, jet ski races, construction work, and a new island centred on Initial D-style drift racing, as reported by Push Square.
Fantasy mode gets a combat update
The previous update added an entire fantasy RPG mode to NTE’s urban open world, as covered in Push Square’s earlier report. That mode is receiving a combat-focused follow-up, with players progressing through a ladder of increasingly difficult skirmishes.
The August update also adds two playable characters to the gacha: Zankou and Linko. Both have unique combat kits, and unlocking them adds their personal interactions to the sandbox’s social gameplay. The two newcomers, alongside several existing units, will receive new outfits available through gameplay, in-game credit purchases, or a new blind box gacha. The blind box gacha also includes a jet ski vehicle.
New activities across the open world
- Beach volleyball – a minigame in which players select partners and level up their skills together.
- Jet ski races – a new open-world event.
- Drift-racing island – a car-focused area with hairpin bends, street races, and collectibles that can all be reached by vehicle.
- Construction work – minigames that use City Stamina and are designed around building up Heathereau.
- Weekly tournaments – recurring activities that award the in-game currency Fons.
Other additions include a property that can be bought with in-game currency. It comes with a garden where players can grow crops to sell. The update also continues the main storyline involving The Scarlet Letter, adds a bicycle vehicle that can be purchased in-game, and introduces a random outfit toggle for characters with large costume collections.
A broad update for NTE
The update combines social activities, vehicle events, combat challenges, construction minigames, and new character content. The beach volleyball mode includes partner selection and skill progression, while the new island is designed for cars and lets players reach its collectibles without leaving their vehicles.
Hotta Studio has also teased a theme park location visible on the horizon of the open world for its next major update, which is due later in the year. Details on the activities and minigames planned for that location have not yet been outlined.
NTE’s August update is due to bring a substantial set of additions to the open world, from jet ski races and drift-focused driving to combat skirmishes and a new property system.
