Sure, a house might just be “that place you store your PlayStation 5 and/or your gaming PC,” but that doesn’t mean you can’t decorate your space to pay tribute to your favorite hobby. Nowadays, video game merchandise has moved beyond plushies and pins to a variety of furniture and decoration items that can be displayed in your house, apartment, dorm room, or other places of residence.
If you want to make your house feel even more like an ideal “gamer heaven,” GameLuster has got some suggestions for you. Here are ten downright bizarre pieces of (mostly) real tie-in merchandise that can be used for decoration and truly turn your gamer house into a gamer home.
Honorable Mentions: Ditto Bean Bag (Pokémon), Xbox Mini Fridge, Umbrella Corp and T-Virus scented perfume/cologne (Resident Evil), Barrel-Shaped Candle (Red Dead Redemption 2), Peashooter slippers (Plants vs. Zombies), Mario Shower Power Handheld Shower (Super Mario Bros.), and absolutely any size/material replica of Norman Reedus’ Funky Fetus (Death Stranding)
10. Black Ops Jeep Wrangler – Call of Duty
As every true Gamer knows, it’s not enough these days to simply paper your car’s rear window with bumper stickers declaring your love for various games and series. No, you’ve got to go all in – with this Call of Duty-themed Jeep Wrangler. To be completely honest, it’s not exactly all that different from a normal Jeep Wrangler, except for all of the Call of Duty logos blazoned practically everywhere. Still, it’s probably the most Gamer car out there – well, at least until they make life-sized real-life road legal Mario Kart vehicles. Someday, hopefully!
9. Sonic Wine Glasses – Sonic the Hedgehog
You can really impress guests with the absolute classiest of crystalware: wine glasses bearing the logo of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. While the official tenth-anniversary Sonic glasses created by Sega are probably pretty pricey, sites such as Etsy offer fan-created varieties featuring all of your favorite characters: Sonic, Tails, and, of course, Knuckles. You can now add “&Knuckles” to the end of every single fancy party you throw in your home with the help of these absolutely stunning wine glasses.
8. A Gaming Toilet
To have a true gamer house, you must be able to game in multiple places, not just at your desk. And why waste those precious minutes spent on the john every day when you could instead be GAMING? Conceptualized by a Japanese designer, this “gaming toilet” would include such features as an ergonomic seat for maximum comfort, Wi-Fi hookup, console attachments, headphone storage, and more. For a simpler model, you could instead go with the “Toylet,” a SEGA creation that features a small screen and access to a limited number of games.
7. Travis Touchdown Toilet Paper – No More Heroes
If you’re going to have a gaming toilet in your house, then, of course, you’ve got to have some gamer toilet paper to go with it. Suda 51’s got you covered with this limited edition No More Heroes toilet paper, which allows you to maintain good wiping hygiene with the assistance of series protagonist Travis Touchdown and his various enemies from the League of Assassins. This tie-in merchandise is particularly apropos, as Travis in-game uses toilets to save his progress. Unfortunately, this toilet paper does not seem to come with that function.
6. Anything That Just Says “Gamer” In Giant Letters
Nowadays, being a gamer is cooler than ever – which means, of course, that more and more companies are trying to cash in on the trend by creating gamer-themed clothes and merchandise. While some of these features actual characters or tributes to iconic video games, others simply say “GAMER” on them. Now, you can brand your GAMER identity all over every part of your home. Comforter? Yup! Rug? You got it! Tablecloth? Probably out there somewhere! Never let your friends and family forget you are a true GAMER again!
5. Gigantamax Gengar Plushie – Pokémon
This enormous, cozy plush version of Gigantamax Gengar from Pokémon Sword and Shield could be put to a variety of uses. It could make a cozy bed for your cat or dog, convenient storage space for your other gaming-related plushies, or simply somewhere where you can go stick your head inside and pretend that a Pokémon is devouring you when you need to get away from the stress and chaos of being alive in 2022. Disclaimer: probably not as good as getting eaten alive by an actual Gigantamax Gengar. Probably.
4. Sexy Waluigi Body Pillow – Super Mario Bros.
Sexy body pillows or hug pillows – also known as dakimakura in Japanese – exist for pretty much any video game character you can think of, which might make it hard to choose just one to snuggle with in bed at night. But, here at GameLuster, we fully believe that one perfect choice DOES exist: none other than the tall, dark, and handsome Waluigi, a recurring nemesis from the Super Mario Bros. series. He might not have made it into Smash, but Waluigi CAN make his way into your living room, bed, or another cozy place in your home! Plus get two in one with the Wario equivalent.
3. Anything That Makes Your House Smell Like an Xbox
You would think that the “scent of Xbox” would be primarily Mountain Dew with slight notes of Dorito and maybe a bit of sweat thrown in there too. Well, apparently, you’d be wrong. According to this official collaboration with LYNX, which included deodorant, body spray, shampoo, and more, the “scent of Xbox” is some blend of citrus, mint, sage, patchouli, and clearwood. With these hygiene items, you can make yourself AND your entire house smell like an Xbox, reminding guests at all times that you are a true Gamer.
2. The Kentucky Fried Chicken Gaming Fridge…Console…Thing?
Dubbed the “KFConsole,” this absolutely must-have piece of Gamer Merch has actually not yet been released. It was announced back in 2020, and then just kind of…faded into obscurity. However, if the KFConsole ever DOES actually materialize, it’s something that every true Gamer will absolutely need to have in their home. After all, what OTHER console features ray tracing, 4k resolution, AND a handy-dandy tray for keeping your fried chicken warm while you game? Just makes you wonder – what do you think the first “KFConsole exclusive” title will be? Here at GameLuster, we’re hoping for an epic open-world Souls-like adventure starring none other than Colonel Sanders himself.
1. 1/4 Scale Lady Dimitrescu Statue – Resident Evil Village
Standing approximately three feet tall, this stunning statue from PureArts includes a hand-tailored gown, perfectly coiffed molded hair, and two hand options – one holding a cigarette and one with claws fully extended. The commanding vampire matriarch Lady Alcina Dimitrescu could add a touch of elegance to any home – not to mention easily terrifying any unwanted guests and sending them running for the hills. Gamers hoping to get their hands on this “Big Lady D” should act quickly, though – PureArts is releasing this item as a limited run with only 666 statues available for sale.
