SEGA Might Have Just Revealed Yakuza Kiwami 3 By Accident

Tokyo Game Show starts next week, and we already know that SEGA is one of the confirmed attendees for the Japan-based gaming exhibition. However, a little slip-up on the Ryu Ga Gotoku (RGG) website, the developers at SEGA behind the Yakuza/Like A Dragon series, might just have revealed an upcoming Yakuza game a little too early. Yes, for a few brief but magical minutes, they listed Yakuza Kiwami 3 on their website.

For those unaware, Yakuza Kiwami is a remake series of Yakuza games, with both the first two Yakuza games having a corresponding Kiwami remake. Yakuza Kiwami released globally in 2017, whilst Yakuza Kiwami 2 had its worldwide release in 2018. It has been years since their last Yakuza Kiwami release, with fans asking for more given the quality and improvements offered by the other Kiwami games, especially over the original games they remake.

Yakuza Kiwami 3 might be real, and SEGA leaked it themselves.

Perhaps what explains why they took so long with Yakuza Kiwami 3 is that it would be the first remake of the PlayStation 3 era Yakuza games, and it already had a remaster release back in 2019 globally on PS4, and even more recently in 2021 for PC and Xbox. It appears to have been long enough though, as the brief (yet captured) listing of Yakuza Kiwami 3 on their website strongly suggests that we’ll be in for an announcement as soon as next week. We’ll be sure to report on it and update this article if that happens, so check back!
