A fan-made tool in development is making it possible to revisit vaulted Destiny 2 spaces, including the Leviathan raid map, six years after content removal began. Why the vaulted content matters
In 2020, Bungie announced the Destiny Content Vault, removing a large portion of older Destiny 2 content from play. The material included story missions and other content players had paid for. Bungie described the decision as necessary for technical reasons, but the removal left many players dissatisfied.
The project, called the Destiny 2 Shadowkeep Singleplayer Exploration Mode, uses the last version of Destiny 2 released before Bungie began vaulting content. Its purpose is to let players walk through locations that are otherwise inaccessible, rather than to restore the game’s previous campaigns or expansions in full.

The project’s documentation says unvaulted locations and maps will not include mechanics or enemies. It also states that there are no plans to add mechanics, quests, enemies, or similar gameplay features. As a result, the tool is intended for exploring and revisiting old environments rather than replaying their original activities.
