And that’s why we’re here!

From launch times and unlockable rewards to playable game modes and tech setup, we’ve researched it all to explain it clearer for you. This is an Open Beta, meaning it’s completely free to all players with no pre-order required. With all that said, here’s everything you need to know to prepare for the Battlefield 6 Open Beta.

Pre-loading the Battlefield 6 Open Beta

Skip the wait and get yourself ready by first downloading the beta early.

Before the Open Beta for Battlefield 6 even starts, you might want to consider pre-loading the game to your system. This downloads all the data necessary to your gaming platform of choice so you don’t even need to wait for the game to install once the Open Beta starts.

Pre-loading is available right now on all available platforms for Battlefield 6, so that’s PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S or PC via Steam, Epic Games Store or EA app. You can search whichever digital storefront for ‘Battlefield 6‘ and you’ll find the Open Beta download in no time.

What time does the Battlefield 6 Open Beta start?

You’ve got two whole weekends to try out the latest in Battlefield.

You can jump into the Battlefield 6 Open Beta earliest if you got an early access code for the beta from Twitch Drops. You’ll be able to earn them again soon if you missed your chance earlier, but more on that later. If you’re one of the lucky few with an Open Beta early access code already, you can start playing from August 7 at 8AM UTC. In other timezones, that’s 1AM PDT, 4AM EDT, 9AM BST or 10AM CEST.

If you don’t have early access, then you can start playing the Battlefield 6 Open Beta during any of its available weekends. That’s August 9 – 10, or August 14 – 17. These weekends probably become available at the same hourly time as the Early Access period, so 8AM UTC at the start of either weekend. Again, that’s 1AM PDT, 4AM EDT, 9AM BST or 10AM CEST on August 9 or August 14 that the beta will open up for the weekend.

What maps and modes are included in the Battlefield 6 Open Beta?

Battlefield 6 Open Beta Maps and Modes
EA provided some Open Beta infographics like this one, so maybe save the following images for future reference!

The Battlefield 6 Open Beta first weekend period spanning August 7 – 10 (including the early access period) will have three maps available to players. These are the Iberian Offensive, Liberation Peak and Siege of Cairo. On these maps, we’ll be able to try out five game modes, being Conquest, Closed Weapon Conquest, Breakthrough, Domination and King of the Hill.

For the second Open Beta weekend period between August 14 – 17, all week one content will be available, along with one new map and more new modes. The new map is Empire State, and the new game modes include Rush, Squad Deathmatch and “more” according to EA. We don’t know what the “more” is officially, but we’d guess maybe it’s the brand new Escalation game mode that has so many of us hyped.

What rewards are available in Battlefield 6 Open Beta?

Battlefield 6 Open Beta rewards
Playing both weekends will give you the most chance to earn all these Battlefield 6 cosmetics.

To keep players engaged all through the beta period, there will be a bunch of rewards that Battlefield 6 players can earn and transfer over to the launch game once it releases in October. The first weekend will offer rewards to players that reach certain progression milestones, with Level 10 rewarding the Lights Out Player Card, Level 15 giving the Rising Star Character Skin, and Level 20 giving players the Night Terror Weapon Charm. Completing milestone missions in each character class can also reward a Striking Distance Weapon Package, an Own the Night Weapon Sticker, an After Dark Weapon Sticker and a Seeker Character Skin, depending on which you complete!

The second weekend will give rewards based on game mode-specific milestones and progression, with three to collect in total. There’s a War Machine Vehicle Skin for players who capture 42 flags in Conquest Domination or King of the Hill, a Bat Company Dog Tag for soldiers who get 200 total kills or assists, and a Dominion Weapon Package for those who capture 10 sectors in Breakthrough or Rush.

Are Twitch Drops available during the Battlefield 6 Open Beta?

Watching Battlefield 6 streams on Twitch will award early access codes and cosmetics.

Yes, watching your favorite streamers playing the beta over on Twitch will reward you with additional unlockable Battlefield 6 cosmetics in the launch version of the game, or for the Open Beta. Starting August 7 with the early access period there are four different hour-long milestones that give different rewards.

  • Watching for one hour awards the Mimic Weapons Package
  • Watching for two hours awards the Landslide Soldier Skin
  • Watching for three hours awards the Shattered Vehicle Skin
  • Watching for the maximum four hours awards the Imperial Soldier Skin

Finally, you can also unlock an early access code if you don’t already have one to jump into the action early. Between August 7 – 8, just watching 30 minutes of your favorite Twitch streamers playing Battlefield 6 will reward you with a code to jump into the action for yourself.

With all that, you’re set for the Battlefield 6 Open Beta! Make sure it’s installed, play as much as you’d like, start by getting an early access code on Twitch if you don’t already have one, and earn all the rewards you want.
