Bayonetta Origins: Cereza – Amadan Dubh The Faerie Jester Boss Guide

After conquering the powerful Fomhorach and earning the Wood Elemental Core, young Umbral Witch Cereza and her companion Cheshire must next liberate the Stone Core from the faerie boss who guards it. The second elemental boss you’ll encounter in Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon is Amadan Dubh, a whimsical trickster who is much more difficult to defeat than his playful personality implies.

Defeating Amadan Dubh involves putting the abilities Cereza and Cheshire gained from the Wood Core to use. You will also need to utilize your dodging skills, as the Faerie Jester can aim explosives at you that are capable of ending the battle prematurely. It’s also especially tricky as Amadan Dubh, also known as the Lunatic Wisp-Juggler, is the first proper multi-stage boss in the game. Luckily, this guide features plenty of helpful tips and tricks to defeat this tricky boss in Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon.

Amadan Dubh Is On A Roll – “Wood” You Defeat Him, Please?

Ama3

Taking down the Faerie Jester will involve putting your skill with the Wood Core and its abilities to the test. When the battle begins, Amadan Dubh will be seated on top of a large ball. He will roll around the circus-themed arena, attempting to ram into Cereza and Cheshire. You will want to avoid getting hit by the ball, as you can take damage and even be knocked over.

Do not try to attack the Faerie Jester while he is moving at full speed! He is nearly impossible to hit like that. Instead, as soon as you find an opening, use Cereza’s Thorn Bind ability to slow his frantic rolling. Once he’s locked in place, switch Cheshire into his Wood Form and send him in to attack.

Ama6

Attacking Amadan Dubh’s ball will cause a green sprout resembling the stalk of a flower to appear. Press the R Button to use Cheshire’s Wood ability, which will latch onto the stalk and send the Jester falling to the ground. Once he’s down, you will have several seconds during which Cereza and Cheshire can both attack him and deal lots of damage.

After he gets back up on the ball, simply do the same thing once again. You will likely have to complete these steps a few times, as Amadan Dubh will not move into the second stage of the battle until he has lost about half of his health. You will know it is time for the second phase because he will abandon his rolling attacks and instead perch on top of a pillar in the arena.

Bombs Away! Cannon You Believe It?

Ama2

Once Amadan Dubh has moved to the top of the arena, he will almost immediately begin throwing explosives at you. These explosives are quite deadly, and will do a lot of damage to Cereza and Cheshire should they hit their mark. Do not worry about attacking the Wisp-Juggler at this point – simply run around evading each bomb he throws! You can tell where each explosive will land by the small dark circle that appears on the ground a few seconds before impact.

Once the volley of bombs is complete, the Faerie Jester will move to one of three pillars located in the middle of the arena. Unfortunately, your attacks still can’t reach him up there, so you’ll have to knock him down – and, wouldn’t you know, the arena comes equipped with a handy cannon that will do the trick! To use the cannon, you simply need to push the button next to the pillar you want to aim at.

Ama7

However, if you just hit the button, Amadan Dubh will leap away unharmed before the cannonball hits him. So, first hit him once more with that handy Thorn Bind ability to freeze him in place. (If you find Cereza running out of magic to cast this spell at any time, simply put Cheshire into Hug Mode to recharge for a bit.) Then, press the button nearest the pillar he is standing on. The Faerie Jester will come crashing to the ground, and once again Cereza and Cheshire can attack him for several seconds while he is stunned.

Repeat this pattern several times until the Wisp-Juggler has run out of health entirely. But, of course, there’s one more thing you need to do before finishing the fight – a circus performer like Amadan Dubh INSISTS on a big finale! Once he’s out of health, the Jester will try to escape but wind up stuck inside a cannon. Then, a series of random button inputs will appear on the screen. Simply press the indicated buttons as quickly as possible to have Cereza put an end to Amadan Dubh for good.

The Rewards Are As-Stone-Ishing!

Ama8

Luckily, such a tricky boss battle brings rewards that are more than worth it. You will get a large number of Onyx Roses and Avalon Drops that you can use to have Cereza and Cheshire learn various useful skills. In addition, you’ll get a full Vitality Blossom that can be used to improve your health. Finally, there’s the item Cereza was seeking in the first place: the Stone Core. This gives Cheshire the ability to transform into a hard-hitting Stone form, while Cereza can absorb stone pillars, an ability that is extremely useful for solving puzzles and exploring the area.
