Renowned horror game studio Bloober Team has announced a strategic partnership with Konami, with the cooperation agreement including "jointly developing selected contents and exchanging know-how" according to Bloober's press release.
Bloober Team are the development studio behind the Layers of Fear series, Blair Witch, and this year's The Medium. "It is a historic day for me and the culmination of several years of our work," Bloober Team President Piotr Babieno stated. "The fact that such a renowned company as Konami has decided to strategically cooperate with the Bloober Team means that we also joined the world leaders in gaming and became an equal partner for the leading players in this market."
Konami's own statement said that information about contents from the business alliance will be revealed "once details are decided" though many a rumour has it that the two studios may have been working together on at least one project for some time already. This follows on from the announcement earlier in the year that Bloober Team have been working on a horror IP with "a very famous gaming publisher" as revealed in a discussion with gamesindustry.biz.
With Silent Hill rumours swirling heavily again recently, it really does seem we may be on the verge of hearing what's next in store for the series, whether it be from this new partnership between Bloober Team and Konami or there actually being some grain of truth to the whole Kojima Blue Box conspiracy. Twitter user @AestheticGamer1 has covered the messy trail of sources and hints that have been popping up over the past few years and concludes that it's "very, very likely" Bloober is involved with one of probably a few Silent Hill projects being handled by different teams. Only time will tell!
