ArtPlay Reveals Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night’s Second Playable Character

The second playable character for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has been revealed.

On Bloodstained’s Kickstarter page, it was revealed that Zangetsu will be the game’s second playable character. He will be released for the title as free post-launch DLC, and will be voiced by Metal Gear Solid’s David Hayter. Zangetsu will wield the Zangetsuto katana, and will be able to explore the game’s castle with his hook chain. He will also be able to use elemental talismans. You can check out the trailer below.

Bloodstained’s third playable character was hinted at, with the Kickstarter update stating that fans will not be able to figure out who it is.

More additional content that will be available on day one for Bloodstained was also announced. This includes a Nightmare Mode, New Game Plus, an 8-bit retro level, and cheat codes. The update also stated that the “Miriam’s Gaze” PlayStation 4 dynamic theme preorder bonus will be available to all who backed the game on the console, both physical and digital, regardless of tier. The dynamic theme features the track “Holy Wisdom” from Bloodstained’s soundtrack.

The news on Zangetsu comes soon after other DLC plans for Bloodstained were revealed. The game will receive an update on day one, which will include a Boss Rush mode and a Speedrun mode. It will also include the Pure Miriam outfit as well. There will be four new modes after launch: Roguelike, Chaos, Classic, and Boss Revenge. There will also be local and online multiplayer for certain modes.

Preorder bonuses for the game were revealed as well. Those who preorder the game from Best Buy will receive a limited edition steelbook case featuring artwork from Mana Ikeda. Those who preorder from the PlayStation Store will received the dynamic theme mentioned above and a 10% discount. PC preorders get a 10% discount as well.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night will release for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on June 18, and will follow on the Nintendo Switch on June 25.
