Every Thursday here on GL we share the weekly Famitsu sales charts, which tracks physical boxed game sales and hardware sales in Japan.

While Mario Vs. Donkey Kong’s near 30k sales this week keeps it at the number one spot, a couple new titles make their way into the top five. The Japan-only release of Shin-chan: Shiro of Coal Town, a Neos developed slice-of-life game with familiar characters, broke the 20k mark in its first week. Though a western release was announced, it has yet to be revealed when the title will make its way over. In third place this week is a Switch remastered collection of Bandai Namco’s classic DS games, Retro Game Challenge 1 & 2. These titles are a series of games based on the Game Center CX TV show in Japan starring comedian Shinya Arino. Though the second game in the series never saw a release date in the west due to poor sales, it’ll be interesting to see if the Switch’s high attachment rate allows for this otherwise fairly niche title to make its way over across the seas.
A last point of note this week is the number ten spot on the list, which sees beloved title Splatoon 3 make a return. This is due to the release of the new Side Order DLC, which according to IGN’s review a couple days ago is, “a delectable rogue lite expansion with outstanding original enemies and crazy new abilities.” Nice to see Splatoon 3 keeping things fresh, even after nearly two years on the market.
