Every Thursday we share the weekly Famitsu sales charts, which tracks physical boxed game sales and hardware sales in Japan. This week’s chart covers June 3rd – 9th as Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door continues to thrive at number one with nearly 20,000 new physical sales added to its total of nearly 170,000. Though this is a notable decrease from our last chart report, it’s still enough to keep our beloved plumber at the top.
The remainder of the list continues to be made up of legacy Nintendo titles, with even last week’s Stellar Blade and new release Tokyo Psychodemic getting bumped out of the top ten by Super Mario Bros. Wonder and Mario Party Superstars. From Kart to Paper to Party, Nintendo’s mustachioed superstar has five titles on this week’s chart with his name plastered on their title. It will be interesting to see which big games from competitors in these summer months will be able to squeeze into this otherwise Nintendo-dominated list, but for now, Mario and friends can continue to enjoy their success at the top.
Here’s the full Famitsu software sales chart for 6/03-6/09. Did you miss our last report where Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door continued its dominance at number one and Stellar Blade was approaching 100k in sales? Check out the last Famitsu chart right here.
