Final Fantasy Resonance Shows Off Squall’s Vision Powers

Square Enix has released 16 minutes of gameplay footage from Final Fantasy Resonance, showing Rain, Jake, Fina, and Lid facing Shiva in a turn-based battle. The encounter runs for just over 11 minutes and includes a look at Squall as a Vision, according to Push Square.

Final Fantasy Resonance is a new entry in the long-running RPG series overseen by Lancarse. It is scheduled to launch on October 22, 2026 for PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S.

Turn-based combat and Visions

The game combines pixel-art-inspired characters with dynamic camera work and 3D environments. Its combat uses a classic turn-based structure in which players can exploit enemy weak points to stagger opponents, unleash powerful attacks, and secure extra turns.

Players can strengthen their party with Visions, echoes of previous Final Fantasy characters that battle alongside the team with unique skills. Cloud and Squall have been shown as Visions. In the Shiva battle, Squall is equipped and later summoned for a super attack preceded by a CGI sequence.

Push Square describes the game as being built on the foundations of the former mobile title Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. Its report also says that Visions have active abilities and passive perks, and that they level up similarly to the main characters.
