Epic Games and Lucasfilm Games have launched a massive Star Wars takeover for Fortnite, dropping three brand-new game modes as part of what’s shaping up to be the biggest Star Wars crossover the battle royale has ever seen – and that’s saying something given the franchise has been woven into Fortnite since 2019.
The headline addition is Galactic Siege, a 10v10 class-based competitive mode that throws players into battles across iconic Star Wars locations. If you’d rather build than brawl, Droid Tycoon lets you construct and customise droids in a factory setting, unlocking new parts and working through missions as you go. Then there’s Escape Vader – a four-player co-op mode where you and your squad have to evade Darth Vader himself and, as the source material puts it, “get away without a force choking.” Alongside these three modes, Epic has handed creators a dedicated Star Wars toolkit, so expect a wave of community-built islands using official characters and assets from the galaxy far, far away to start flooding Fortnite‘s creative ecosystem too. Weekly quests are running throughout May, each dropping fresh Star Wars-themed rewards to chase across all the new content.

This crossover lands on the back of years of steadily escalating Star Wars integration in Fortnite – from the original lightsaber drops and Stormtrooper skins back in 2019, through to Darth Vader becoming a recurring Battle Royale presence and the sprawling multi-mode Star Wars Day event in May 2024 that stretched across LEGO Fortnite, Fortnite Festival, and Rocket Racing. The community reaction has been enthusiastically loud, with creators already flagging the scale of this push as something genuinely new – less a cosmetic drop, more a full platform moment. It’s the kind of sustained, multi-genre swing that fits neatly into Fortnite‘s broader crossover playbook, which has recently pulled in everything from a Scooby-Doo collaboration to the KPop Demon Hunters event – proof that Epic isn’t slowing down on the partnership front anytime soon.

Which of the three new modes are you diving into first – the competitive chaos of Galactic Siege, the factory fun of Droid Tycoon, or the co-op tension of Escape Vader?
